It is a cool, crisp 33 degrees this morning in suburban Minneapolis and that can only mean one thing…Maryland football is starting their annual collapse after going 4-0 in September. The other, secondary, thing that it means is…college basketball is almost back!!!!!
The men’s preseason AP Top-25 was released on Monday and the women’s poll should be released later today (Tuesday for those of you who don’t know what day it is). I am seeing box scores from “secret” scrimmages on Twitter and I’ve convinced myself that THIS is the year the Big Ten will finally win a national championship in hoops.
Women’s college basketball has long been under served by national, legacy media, especially when it comes to previewing the upcoming season. For college football and men’s basketball you can find magazines at newsstands and hundreds of thousands of words written online but barely anything for women’s hoops.
I think that women’s college basketball, and especially women’s college basketball in the Big Ten, deserves better. So I decided to do something about it last year and published my first annual Big Ten Women’s College Basketball preview guide. It was purchased, for five American dollars, by six trailblazing souls who appreciate good (citation needed) independent journalism.
This year, for my second edition, I’ve decided to make it free for anyone who wants it. (I will not, however, turn down any money you’d like to give me via my Buy Me A Coffee page) I think that it is an excellent preview and I’m certain you’ll reference it throughout the season to help you enjoy Big Ten hoops AND be smarter than your friends.
