WBB: exit interview with Mary Ferrito
The freshman guard is in the transfer portal and on the lookout for a new place to continue her academic and athletic career.
Early last week the first offseason domino fell for the Wisconsin women’s basketball team when walk-on freshman guard Mary Ferrito announced that she was entering the transfer portal. Later last week we learned that sophomore guard Krystyna Ellew had also put her name in the portal and that assistant coach Caroline Doty wouldn’t be returning to Marisa Moseley’s staff.
It is always interesting to understand WHY certain players transfer and the quickest way to do that is, uh, to ask them. So I decided to do just that and reached out to Ferrito last week. We were able to talk for about 15 minutes on Monday afternoon about her first season of college hoops, what she plans on doing next, and who she learned the most from in Madison.
Pertinent quotes which have been edited for clarity and length. My thoughts are added in italics.
